Morris HillquitMorris Hillquit (born Moishe Hillkowitz) was a founder and leader of the Socialist Party of America, a labor leader in NYC, and a prominent national politician. He came to Saranac Lake with TB in 1919. He was apparently already familiar with the area and disease. In 1897 he donated $9 (not a small sum then) to the “Adirondack Cottage Sanitarium.”
